a long music post

hi! this shall be the longest music recommendation post i've ever made :> on my blog. this will include a lot of kpop and other types of pop music. i'm trying to include live performances only, except when they are worse than the studio versions, or when the studio version is of a style that i prefer. i'm going to set the limit -- 25 songs. i originally wanted to just include 20 songs, but then i realised i probably will lack the motivation to do this sorta post again anytime soon. welp. this took a week or so. i added a few songs each time i edited this post. i lost my patience after my exams ended.
1. sunset glow by big bang
this song might be my favourite song by bb. i've finally found you, you gem! this song is so precious and classic. the tune. oh god. i feel like liquid sunglow is pouring into my soul. i love this song so much. i think most non-fans don't know this song? i prefer this to lies. haru haru, blue etc. i have a soft spot for well-produced, happy songs. the tune is so catchy and uplifting.
2. a good man by big bang
i like the lyrics and the overall jazzy feel of this song. this was composed by top, by the way! yes, that's primarily why i even bothered giving it a listen :>. bb has produced so many songs. i wanted to recommend the new made album by bigbang. but i'm sure most would've heard their songs already?
3. homeless by leona lewis
my favourite singer :>. this is a haunting song.
4. don't hate me by epik high
the tune stays in your mind. i think this song is quite romantic and positive too. i like the idea of two people sticking together because they simply love each other, regardless of all the disapproval they receive. it's heartening, huh.
5. amor fati by epik high
i don't know what epik high really meant in this song. it's ambiguous. but i think the main message of this song is: don't judge others because you are in no position to do so; don't hate others for being different. by hating, you are sinning, and you won't be any different from those whom are supposedly sinning according to you.
6. to know him is to love him by amy whinehouse
sublime.
7. time machine by ingrid michaelson
i like it because it's so kickass and quite angry.
7. run & run by hyuna
i love the beat and the tune of the song. it sounds very dope ahahahahahahha. wow, i haven't used that word in a long while.
8. until whenever by big bang
this clearly deviates from bb's recently music style. it sounds less restrained and more earnest because of that. gd composed this for vips. this was never officially released, hence its lousy quality.
9. crazy dog by yezi ft san e
i wish san e wasn't included in this song :<. see her legendary perf on unpretty rapstar. that original one had a nicer beat, sadly.
10. ghost by halsey
surprisingly, i'm digging the artificial sound effects here.
11. eternal sunshine by jhene aiko
nice mv. the lyrics are dear to me. i hope, on my deathbed, i'll have no regrets. because i only want to hold onto all the good i've been blessed with in those last few seconds. they say that the most important moments in your life flash before your eyes right before you die. god. let's start appreciating what we have, now. don't delay love and life, always start with what you have, no matter how meager.
12. first day of my life by bright eyes
i love this song. it makes me feel so happy and warm. it's filled with love and hope, although you can there's some uncertainty. it's about trying to love someone and stay committed. very human and relatable. i've heard from many close to me, about all their relationships that went awry. success in romantic love is rare, so how can you blame someone for being cynical? your fear of committing is well justified. you'll spend so much money, time, love and yourself on one person. often it doesn't work out anyway. many things have to fall nicely in place for the relationship to remain functional. i hope, one day, i'll find myself in a lasting, healthy relationship :>.
13. clown by emeli sande
lovely :-(.
14. twice by sarah lee (cover)
her voice is so clear. i love it. i seldom find such clear and honest voices on youtube. unpretentious and not flamboyant.
15. us by regina spektor
one of my future wedding songs!
16. living in the moment by jason mraz
another song with a really nice and simple message.
wherever i'm going, i'm already home.you can't escape yourself by travelling to somewhere else. you take yourself with you. your soul is your sanctuary.
17. isn't she lovely by jayesslee and clara c
18. crazy world and you by sam brookes
this is the type of guy voice i love. warm, deep, thick and solid. a very warm song. the instrumentals kick in very nicely, just like how fireflies make a welcomed appearance on a summer night.
19. the monster mash by only the young
the original is also equally awesome. this one is more upbeat, and less quaint. but i like their energy, so i decided to post this version instead. you can't find many songs like this one :>, ones that talk about ghouls and monsters partying.
20. sunboat by litte suns
oh my. what a serendipitous discovery. i'd nearly forgotten about this band. time for me to creeeeep. they seem like they produce really great music. i found this gem while watching it's okay, it's love, which is also another gem itself.
21. why did i fall in love with you by dbsk
22. crazy in love by beyonce
!!! why does such a crappy movie get such a great ost?
23. love in the ice by dbsk
i prefer the japanese version. i couldn't find a good lyrics vid to the jap ver, so you'll have to make do with this :<. LIKE. I. HWAVE A LOT OF DBSK FEELS. i need to unload them SOMEWHERE. sorry, blog. this is my favourite sad dbsk song, hahaha. i also think it's one of dbsk's most famous ballads? in the next post i will compile all my favourite lives, which will include the best jap live of this song by dbsk.
24. how are you by dbsk
my favourite heartwarming dbsk song. i'm embarrassed that i'm unsure of what i'm going to say, 'cause i studied music (...sort of... coughs guiltily) for 8 years? it's in the major key for the most part, but enters a minor key during the chorus. that's why it's so unique. coupled with a catchy tune, it becomes so compelling. also, there's a nice instrumental break in this song. it feels like a drama ost.
25. breathe by lee hi
my only complaint is that the lyrics are too repetitive. it doesn't finish with an oomph. the song starts to lose me in the last 1.5 min. pity.
the next vid will compile my favourite lives ;-) i can't believe this post took a few months to complete. i'm just that lazy and unfocused.
